Did You Know there are critical times each day when our youth are at risk? At the NET Teen Center we provide a safe place for our teens to learn and grow and enrich their relationships within the community.

Between the hours of 3 and 6 pm more youth engage in risky behavior than in any other time of the day?

After-school hours are a critical time for youth. This time can either be an opportunity to learn and grow through quality after-school programs, or a time of risk to youth's safety and well-being.  According to the US Department of Education, youth who regularly attend high-quality after-school programs, like the NET Teen Center,  have better grades and conduct in school; more academic and enrichment opportunities; better peer relations and emotional adjustment and lower incidences of drug-use, violence and pregnancy.

When left unsupervised during the after-school hours, youth are both more likely to engage in negative risk-taking behaviors such as alcohol and drug use, as well as be the victims of crimes.  After-school programs, like the NET Teen Center, keep kids safe, improve academic achievement and help relieve the stresses on today's working families. They serve as important youth violence prevention and intervention strateg-ies.
